THOMAS DOLBY
Thomas Dolby is one of the great legends of electronic music. His career as a solo artist includes two of the most unique and recognisable hits of the genre, She Blinded Me With Science and Hyperactive.
Dolby promoted himself as a kind of mad scientist, an egghead that had successfully harnassed the power of synthesizers and samplers, using them to make catchy pop and electro-funk.
THE ARIES PROJECT
Night World formed in the late 80s by singer / songwriter Charles Kennedy. Musically the band, which featured a number of different line-ups, mutated from an experimental electronic group (first album, The Bears At The End Of The Garden 1988 IH2) into a song-based electronic rock group (Grand Designs 1990 IH3), eventually finding cult success in the United States with the song Night Flight To Charlotte (from Charge Of The Night Brigade 1993 IH4).

A Native American, Salas was raised in San Diego, California, where he learned guitar and absorbed a wide variety of musical influences early on - everyone from Earth Wind & Fire to Van Halen and Led Zeppelin. Relocating to Hollywood with hopes of launching a music career, Salas quickly realised it wasn't going to be as easy as originally planned.
EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER
Re-Works is probably one of the most radical reworkings of anybody's repertoire. Producer Mike Bennett has worked alongside Keith Emerson and others to create a new piece of work. Mike Bennett describes the album thus:
"Whilst maintaining it's originality the album embraces Chill Out, post modern Drum 'n' Bass and Jazz. The additional programming has been minimal in order to make the live performance of that band the major component."
WISHBONE ASH
Andy Powell in conversation about Wonderful Stash, the anthology of Wishbone Ash's ventures into clubland.
Q. You've always been diverse in the genres your band has embraced. The collection on this box set fuses your quintessential guitar sound with urban and electronic club rhythms. How did this extraordinary sound clash with X-ert sound crew come about?
